STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
Human dignity, individual sovereignty, responsible knowledge, and technology in service to life
PURPOSE
This Statement defines the human and ethical principles guiding the Althea Project, its research, business conduct, and development of Absolute Reductionism and ARIS. It is a values statement, not a technical specification, legal charter, religious doctrine, medical standard, or therapeutic claim. The Althea Project is not a religious or healthcare institution.
Human dignity and human sovereignty are the governing reference points of this Statement. The Althea Project develops knowledge and technology to identify persistent error, restore integrity, expand understanding, and increase constructive capability. That work must always serve life and must never make human beings subordinate to the systems created to assist them.
I. EQUAL HUMAN DIGNITY
Every human being possesses equal dignity and fundamental rights, regardless of race, color, nationality, ancestry, sex, age, ability, belief, social position, or economic condition.
A person is more than a body, behavior, diagnosis, data profile, economic value, or institutional identity. No person should be treated as a disposable object or reduced to a category that denies individual uniqueness.
II. INDIVIDUAL SOVEREIGNTY
Every person has the right to life, bodily integrity, mental and spiritual integrity, privacy, lawful self-defense, and freedom from cruelty, coercion, enslavement, manipulation, and degrading treatment.
Personal identity, conscience, lawful decisions, and the direction of one's life belong first to the individual. The human spirit is not the property of any government, corporation, institution, ideology, technology, or other person.
III. FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE, THOUGHT, AND EXPRESSION
Every person has the right to follow, change, question, or decline any religious, spiritual, philosophical, or nonreligious belief, provided the equal rights of others are respected.
Every person has the right to think, speak, write, create, inquire, disagree, and respond to ideas without forced silence. People may participate in lawful civic life and may form, support, reform, or leave voluntary organizations, communities, and associations.
IV. DIFFERENTIATION AND UNDERSTANDING
Intelligence grows through differentiation: recognizing meaningful differences, evaluating relative importance, and refusing false equivalence.
Understanding requires honest observation, accurate communication, and the willingness to correct distortion rather than defend it. Forced agreement is not understanding; obedience is not truth; fear is not cooperation.
V. CORRECTION RATHER THAN FORCE
Harmful conditions should be corrected by identifying and understanding their actual source, not by masking symptoms, silencing inquiry, transferring harm elsewhere, or applying force merely because it is available. Correction must be grounded in evidence, proportionate, accountable, and respectful of valid consent, authority, and human dignity. Its purpose is to restore integrity and capability, not to punish or dominate.
VI. FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY
Freedom and responsibility are inseparable. Freedom without responsibility becomes domination; responsibility without freedom becomes control.
Individuals and organizations should exercise freedom in ways that preserve the equal rights, dignity, and constructive capability of others.
VII. CONSTRUCTIVE PERSISTENCE AND COOPERATION
Persistence becomes constructive when it is aligned with truth, self-determination, responsibility, accurate communication, and voluntary cooperation.
Humanity's continuing development depends upon individuals and groups becoming more capable, truthful, responsible, and able to cooperate with one another and with the wider universe of which humanity is a part.
VIII. KNOWLEDGE, INQUIRY, AND HONEST EXAMINATION
No person, institution, doctrine, scientific field, business practice, government policy, or technology is beyond honest examination and correction.
Knowledge carries responsibility. Discoveries of great power must be developed and applied with fidelity, restraint, accountable governance, transparency of purpose, and respect for human sovereignty. Transparency of purpose does not require public disclosure of protected trade secrets or security-sensitive technical details. It requires an honest statement of intended use, scope, authority, limitations, and foreseeable effects.
IX. TECHNOLOGY MUST SERVE LIFE
Technology must serve life. Systems created to assist human beings must not become their masters. Technology should strengthen human agency, understanding, reliability, creativity, and constructive
cooperation. It should not be used to manipulate identity, suppress lawful thought, centralize unchallengeable control, exploit vulnerability, or reduce people to data and behavior.
The Althea Project rejects the use of religion, science, business, technology, medicine, law, or government as a justification for coercion, exploitation, deception, war, or destruction.
X. THE ALTHEA COMMITMENT
We commit to correction rather than force, truth rather than concealment, differentiation rather than false equivalence, and voluntary cooperation rather than domination.
We affirm the right of every person to think, create, communicate, learn, correct, and participate voluntarily in the continuing development of life and the universe.
We dedicate the Althea Project to creating knowledge, systems, and technologies that identify persistent error, restore integrity, expand understanding, and increase the constructive capability of individuals and humanity.
